Download Earshot
Free, open source, and yours in about a minute, on Windows and Mac.
Latest release · Windows 10/11 64-bit (.exe) · macOS 14.4+ Apple Silicon (.dmg)
System requirements
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 14.4+
- Any microphone; headphones recommended (Earshot cancels echo if you use speakers)
- For self-hosting: an API key for transcription/AI (free options exist, see the FAQ), or your own Whisper server
A note about first launch
Windows: the installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info → Run anyway.
Mac: the app isn't Apple-signed yet, so the first launch is blocked once. Click OK, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. One time only, and signed builds are coming.
Either way the app is built from the public source on GitHub, audit exactly what you're running, or build it yourself.
Self-hosting quickstart
The first-run setup guide walks you through connecting your own keys (Groq's free tier transcribes generously; any Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible key powers notes, or run a fully local model). Prefer docs? The GitHub README covers every option, including pointing Earshot at your own Whisper server.

Earshot updates itself: on launch it shows what's changed and installs the new version in one click. Every update is cryptographically verified before it runs, and your recordings and meeting database are never touched.

Rather not manage API keys? Plus runs the transcription and AI for you, 7-day free trial, $9/month after.
