Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 July 2026
Earshot is built by Earshot App (ABN 28 119 806 160) ("we", "us"), based in Australia. This policy covers the Earshot desktop app, the Earshot Plus service, and tryearshot.app. The short version: the app is local-first, we store as little as possible, and we never sell data or train models on your content.
The desktop app (self-hosted)
Recordings, transcripts, notes and settings are stored only on your device. If you self-host, the app sends audio and text directly to the AI providers you configure, under your accounts and their terms. We receive nothing, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reports.
Earshot Plus
When you subscribe, we process:
- Account data, your email address, a password hash, and the names of devices you link. Kept while your account exists.
- Meeting audio and text, transiently, audio you transcribe and text for notes/answers passes through our servers to our AI providers and is discarded after the response is returned. It is not written to disk, logged, or retained. When Earshot Cloud sync launches, synced content will be stored encrypted and deletable by you at any time; we'll update this policy first.
- Usage metadata, minutes transcribed and request counts per month, to enforce the fair-use cap and run the service. Retained as monthly totals.
Checkout and billing are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record: Paddle processes your payment details, applies local taxes and issues invoices. We never see your card number. The AI providers that process Plus audio and text do so under API terms that prohibit training on your data.
What we never do
We don't sell personal information, don't run ads, don't use your content to train models, and don't read your meetings.
Your rights
Email [email protected] to access or delete your account data, deletion completes within 30 days. Australian users: we comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. EU/UK users: our lawful basis is contract performance; you may also complain to your local authority.
